Strong class led Choctaw County during season

April 27, 2014

ACKERMAN – Andy Young has watched 12 senior classes come and go during his baseball coaching tenure.
The three seniors that played their final game last Friday were extra special because it was his first class to graduate as Choctaw County Chargers.
“I am going to miss those three seniors,” Young said. “You don’t realize how attached you get to kids until you do what I do. This is my 12th senior class and the bunch I have now are special because they are my first here. I am not knocking any of my other kids, but this group right here is a special, special group.”
Making up the current class were Taylor Lofton, Logan Black and Coty Weaver, who served as the “building block” for Young and the newly combined squad for the entire year. It would have been easy for veteran players to have a chip on their shoulder after having to join forces with another area school, but not once did the coach ever see his seniors deter from their devotion to and love of the game.
