SHS shows fight in loss

April 24, 2014

It was the type of ending that coach Travis Garner and the Starkville Yellowjackets can build on.
Even though SHS lost a 14-5 decision to the Louisville Wildcats in the final game of the baseball season Thursday night, the fight the Jackets showed at the end by scoring four runs with two outs in the seventh inning was an encouragement to Garner.
"I wished we had played a little better, but it's OK," Garner said. "We finished with a winning season. Our goals, especially moving up to 6A, we were right there and we were a couple of spots from getting into the playoffs. That would have been a huge accomplishment, but I think it is a step in the right direction."
