Maudine Hendricks Oswalt

Maudine Hendricks Oswalt, 95, of Starkville, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 after a brief illness.

She was born October 26, 1918 in Oktibbeha County, MS, in the Self Creek Community, and she married Eldridge Benton Oswalt on March 12, 1937. She and E.B. had been married for 69 years at the time of his passing.

All that knew her could easily see she was a devoted Christian and she leaves a great Christian heritage for her family. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great-grandmother. She enjoyed reading, working work puzzles and cooking. She loved spending time with her friends and family, always had a kind word and a smile on her face.

Mrs. Oswalt retired from the Mississippi State Seed Testing Laboratory in 1984.

Maudine was preceded in death her parents, Ernest and Annie Hendricks; her husband, Eldridge Benton "E.B." Oswalt; and son, Roy Stanley Oswalt.

She is survived by her children; daughter, Kathleen (James) Bryant of Eupora, MS; daughter-in-law, Donna Oswalt of Starkville, MS; son, Larry (Suellen) Oswalt of Starkville, MS and daughter, Lynette (Roger) Shivers of Starkville, MS; grandchildren, Rhonda (Wayne) Beach, Patti (Danny) Stafford, Tom (Lucy) Bryant, Melanie (Andrew) Beese, Danny (Bella) Oswalt, Deana Shivers Card and Jeremy Shivers; 10 great-grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville on Friday, April 11, 2014 from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 in the Welch Funeral Home Chapel, with graveside services at the Self Creek Baptist Church Cemetery (Brown Road). Dr. James T. Bryant and Rev. Dickie Bryan will conduct the services.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Tom Bryant, Danny Oswalt, Jeremy Shivers, Wayne Beach, Danny Stafford, Bryan Beach, Brandon Hubbard, Andrew Beese and Hunter Card.
