Brett Pirtle and the Mississippi State Bulldogs struggled early in the season when it came to fielding the baseball.
MSU committed 10 errors in the first 10 games, but in the last 24 games, the Bulldogs have only had 11 errors.
Pirtle, the senior second baseman who has committed two errors this season, was one of the driving forces behind the cleanup defensively.
“It’s just playing baseball, (and) not worrying about if we make an error or not," Pirtle said. "We’ve been consistently making all the plays. Sometimes we make an error, but it doesn’t affect us.”
The Bulldogs lead the Southeastern Conference with a .984 fielding percentage, and lately they have gotten more opportunities at ground balls.
