County picks Garrard for CAO - Attempt to create assistant post fails

The Oktibbeha County Board of Supervisors selected Comptroller Emily Garrard as the new county administrator on Monday.

Supervisors hired Garrard on a 4-1 vote during a Monday morning meeting, with District 1 Supervisor John Montgomery, District 3 Supervisor Marvell Howard, District 4 Supervisor Daniel Jackson and District 5 Supervisor Joe Williams voting in favor. District 2 Supervisor Orlando Trainer voted against the hire.
