The Starkville Academy Volunteers saw playing Starkville High School in a tennis match on Monday as another way to create a competitive situation for its program.
Even though the Vols lost a 7-3 decision to the Yellowjackets, SA coach Lynn Moorehead saw it as another opportunity to get better.
"Progress is going forward and everyone is getting better," Moorehead said. "The more they are on the court the better they get. We're competitive which was what I was really looking for this year because we have a lot of young players and new players to the team.
"We're doing what we need to do. Everyone is stepping up and doing what I asked with a smile on their face. The are enjoying the sport and learning the sport."
