Area prep teams gain experience with tournament

April 6, 2014

Three of the area’s high school softball teams got a good dose of experience as it traveled a bit south to take part in the Neshoba Central Fast Pitch Softball Tournament.
“You get to see different teams from different classifications,” Starkville coach Wendy Jolly said. “You get to see teams you don’t normally see during regular season. We have two more weeks, then we start getting into playoff action so it gets you more experience.”
Jolly’s Lady Yellowjackets competed in a pair of games on Saturday. There was a contest with fellow Class 6A team Meridian first where Starkville walked away with an 18-3 victory.
