East Webster beats Eupora in softball

April 3, 2014

MABEN – The East Webster Lady Wolverines showed that putting the softball in play can lead to positive things on Thursday night.
In a meeting between cross-county rivals, East Webster picked up a 12-2 softball victory over Eupora.
“We did a good job putting the ball in play,” Lady Wolverines coach Lee Berryhill said. “(In) just about every inning, we put pressure on their defense. We just did a good job of putting the ball in play. We threw strikes (in the circle) which gave us a chance. (When) you play defense, you put it in play and you throw strikes, you got a chance.”
While things seemed to be going East Webster’s way, the Lady Eagles just seemed to never really get off the ground.
“As far as offense, we weren’t on the ball like we should have been,” Eupora coach Kaley Harris said. “We had runners on base and we didn’t bring them around. Defense-wise, we made errors that hurt us. Pitching-wise, we walked a few we shouldn’t have.”
