The improvement that the Starkville Christian Lady Cougars have made on the softball field over the last few years is evident in their play.
On Tuesday, the Lady Cougars got their first win of the season in an impressive way as they defeated Grace Christian 16-0 in five innings at the Starkville Sportsplex.
Starkville Christian coach Cynthia Jefferson has enjoyed watching the team grow and mature this season.
"It's been coming together pretty good," Jefferson said. "They've looked great this season. They've improved a whole lot. This is the varsity's first win. Our junior varsity won their first one last week.
"They are learning to make the plays that we give them. They are thinking about things and where the runners are. They are really learning the game and coming along."
