Hard work.
Since arriving on the scene as an 8th grader, that is exactly what Starkville Daily Area Player of the Year Kadarius Yates has given to the West Oktibbeha basketball program.
“When I first got him, he was an uncoordinated, skinny 8th grader, but I moved him up to my varsity and he kept getting better and better,” Timberwolves coach Danny Crawford said. “By his sophomore year, he started getting more playing time, started playing a lot more his junior year, then his senior year, he just blossomed. The thing about Kadarius is his work ethic. He always wants to get better.”
In previous seasons, Yates was surrounded by a host of talented players and he took advantage of that opportunity.
Crawford said Yates was always in the gym and always wanted to be around the older kids to learn more and more about the game.
