Jackets edged by Tigers

March 23, 2014

The Starkville Yellowjackets got off to a slow start during Saturday's game against Winona at home.
Even though the Jackets picked up the pace as the action progressed, the Tigers had done enough in the end to take a 4-3 victory back to Montgomery County.
Starkville saw its overall record slip to 8-5 with a third-straight loss and coach Travis Garner said his team is "in a tough stretch and kind of fighting it a little bit."
With Class 6A, Region 3 games scheduled against Madison Central next week, Garner wants to see the Jackets "bounce out of it."
Garner was encouraged that after a 12-0 loss to Northwest Rankin on Friday that SHS did get back into the game with Winona after spotting it a 3-0 lead.
