State's Gonzales doesn't want receivers to 'believe hype'

March 19, 2014

Billy Gonzales doesn't want his guys to drink the juice.
That juice being all the hype.
The Mississippi State co-offensive coordinator, passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach didn't lose a single player from his group of last season.
The wide receivers will be one of the more flourished and talented position groups for the Bulldogs.
In the spring, he wants them to focus on just them and not things that are happening or being said around them.
"My whole attitude is don't believe the hype, (and) don't believe anything," Gonzales said. "Don't believe anything you did last year because last year is gone. You have a one year shelf life."
That group includes seniors Jameon Lewis and Robert Johnson, junior Joe Morrow and sophomore De'Runnya Wilson.
Junior quarterback Dak Prescott likes what he sees from the wideouts so far.
"We've got some experienced guys and they look good out there," Prescott bragged. "They're moving fast, they're catching some good footballs and they're just ready to go."
