Ben Bracewell considers baseball in the Southeastern Conference a grind.
The Mississippi State senior right hander has been through four – including a medical redshirt year – rugged SEC seasons.
"It's a grind for sure," Bracewell said. "That's a great word for it."
Bracewell and the No. 23 Bulldogs (13-7) compete against the Georgia Bulldogs (12-6) in Athens this weekend for a three-game weekend series to start SEC play.
Today's game is set for 6 p.m., Saturday's game can be seen on Fox Sports Net at 11 a.m. and Sunday's finale is set to begin at noon.
Bracewell (2-1, 1.74 ERA) is set to get the start on the mound for the Magnolia State Bulldogs in game one.
The Chelsea, Ala., native has made five appearances with three starts this season. He has pitched 20 2/3 innings and given up just five runs, four earned, on 20 hits.Â
Opponents are hitting just .270 off Bracewell. He has struck out 20 batters and just walked four.
"I feel good about it," Bracewell said. "My job is just to go out there, set the pace for the whole weekend, try to get Georgia swinging the bats, filling up the strike zone and get our defenders working."
