Starkville scratches out victory in second game

Maintaining on the part of the defense is what kept Starkville High in it on the baseball diamond Wednesday. Not once did the team let things get out of hand and in the end, it was the Yellowjackets picking up a 4-3 victory.
“They threw a lefty,” Starkville coach Travis Garner said. “That is their best. (When) a lefty (is) throwing the ball down in the zone three pitches, he put zeroes up. We scratched in the sixth to tie it up, but the tip of the hat is we kept making defensive plays and putting zeroes up to keep it at two because if it had got to four, we wouldn’t get there. It was real big for our pitching and defense to keep it at two, then we were able to put it together.”
