Stropp's progresses well during MSU men's tennis career

March 12, 2014

Malte Stropp has come a long way since stepping on the Mississippi State campus as a freshman in 2010.
The Mississippi State senior tennis player has been through it all with his Bulldog teammates. He has overcome adversity and helped rejuvenate the MSU tennis program.
When head coach Per Nilsson thinks about his veteran, he sees what Mississippi State tennis should be about.
"I think that every time he came on the court, whether it was a match or practice," Nilsson said. "He knew what was expected and the only way we were going to be good is if we worked hard every day. He has worked really hard to do that."
Stropp was really impressive as a freshman. He went 25-6 in singles matches, including a 17-3 record in the spring.
He won Southeastern Conference Freshman of the Week honors three times and was selected as the league's Freshman of the Year.
The Dusseldorf, Germany, native is about all things Maroon and White, and has enjoyed his time in Starkville.
"It's been an amazing four years so far," Stropp said. "I've developed so much, not just as a tennis player, but also as a person. I love working hard and this program is all about working really hard, competing and giving 100 percent every day and (in) everything you do."
