East Mississippi Community College and Mississippi State were both glad that Colin Borchert chose not to stay in the restaurant business.
While attending Yavapai Junior College in Prescott, Ariz., Borchert spent time working at a restaurant. It didn't take long for him to learn that serving food and wearing a tie was no life for him.
That's when Borchert's mother sent him off on a mission to find success.
The path led him to Scooba, Mississippi, and a two-year stint with the EMCC Lions, then to Starkville for the chance to play in the Southeastern Conference with the Bulldogs.
Through the experiences at both places, Borchert has developed as a basketball player and a person.
