SHS splits pair of games in Ackerman

March 4, 2014

ACKERMAN – The Starkville Yellowjackets wanted another game.
Boasting a team full of youth, baseball coach Travis Garner and his squad jumped on the opportunity to pick up a game with Choctaw County.
The late addition paid off as the Yellowjackets secured a 12-0 victory. They lost a 13-4 decision to Kosciusko later in the night.
"It is good for us to play," Garner said. "Our kids are so young and inexperienced the more they play the better they get.
"I was proud of them. It was the first road trip. (It was the) first time on a bus for a lot of them and they come over here and played well."
