Starkville begins the season at MSU's Pitts Tennis Centre

March 2, 2014

The Starkville Yellowjackets will open the tennis season today in high class fashion.
“We actually got permission to play at the (A.J.) Pitts (Centre) for the first time since I have been coach,” SHS tennis coach Rob Fyke said. “The kids are excited about it. They feel like they are playing at Yankee Stadium on both sides. Unfortunately the weather is going to be a bit cool, but that might bump up their memory when they look back. We are still going to roll with it even though it’s supposed to be between 30-40 degrees with the wind blowing 20 miles per hour. We are going to give it our best effort.”
Not only will the facilities be top of the line, but Starkville’s opponent is a strong one. For their first match, the Jackets will face the Cougars of Newton County.
