A career day against the arch rival was enough to catch the attention of the Southeastern Conference office.
After scoring 25 points and pulling down a career-high 23 rebounds in a 72-70 overtime victory against the Ole Miss Rebels Sunday, Mississippi State junior center Martha Alwal claimed SEC Player of the Week honors.
Alwal believed she had an opportunity for a big game against the Rebels.
"I knew it was a team smaller than I was so I just tried to go out there and dominate," Alwal said following the game on Sunday. "In the past, I have taken some plays off, so I tried not to do that (Sunday). I just wanted to concentrate and really play as well as I could."
