PELAHATCHIE – All championships are different.
Some titles come easier than others. Some come with a little extra work involved.
That's the feeling the Starkville Academy Lady Volunteers had Saturday after the team picked up its third Class AAA, Division II title in a row with a 48-40 victory over the Lady Cougars of Hillcrest Christian Academy.
“They are all sweet, the championships, but this one may be just a bit more special because they worked twice as hard and they had to handle adverse situations,” Starkville Academy coach Glenn Schmidt said. “I just can’t say enough about how sweet it is. I am almost speechless. I think our players deserved this with what they have gone through to become a basketball team.”
