The Mississippi State women's basketball team has come away with some nice wins at home in the Southeastern Conference this season.
Progress has been made for the Bulldogs with victories over Missouri 69-62 and Georgia 80-67 at Humphrey Coliseum.
As much as MSU takes pride in getting the job done in those games, it has some close to pulling off two more, but fell just short.
The Bulldogs were edged by Tennessee 67-63 on Jan. 16 and by South Carolina 71-64 on Feb. 6.
MSU stands at 16-9 overall and 3-8 in the SEC, but coach Vic Schaefer knows those records could be so much better if his squad could have finished off the outings where it came up short.
"I'm pleased with our progress, but you hate not winning these close games," Schaefer said. "If you are a competitor, you want to win them. That's why they hired me and I've got to bring them home. The next step is winning some of these games."
The next opportunity for the Bulldogs comes today against the Vanderbilt Commodores at home. Tipoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
