William Scott Tanksley

Services for Scott Tanksley, of Kemp, will be held Monday, February 17, 2014 at 10am at The Performing Arts Center in Terrell, TX with Rev. Denny Burris and Rev. Perry Smith officiating. Interment will follow   the service at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas, TX. Scott was born on November 1, 1973 in Dallas, TX to parents Robert Wayne and Juanita Gayle (Farley) Tanksley and entered into the arms of Jesus on February 10, 2014 at the age of 40. Scott graduated from Kemp High School and he was drafted by the  Baltimore Orioles. He attended Mississippi State University and played baseball for the bulldogs, where he held many titles, one of which has not been broken. He was drafted by the Minnesota Twins his junior year at MSU.  He was a member of the Mississippi State Alumni Association, Ducks Unlimited and NRA. Scott married the love of his life, Wendi Prine, on February 14, 1998. He introduced and instilled     the passion of hunting in his children. He was proud of the natural athletic ability of his oldest daughter and loved coaching her where he could. Scott volunteered and coached his son’s little league baseball    teams and drove a passion for baseball into his son. The youngest of the three, the pistol of the family, was his little shadow. They were all inspired by their Father’s passion of hunting and followed in his footsteps. He was a member of the Dallas Fire Department for fifteen years. Scott attended Lakeview  Assembly of God Church in Seven Points, TX and was a member at West Mesquite Baptist Church.
Scott was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents; Bill and Bo Tanksley and maternal grandparents; Homer and Elva Jean Farley.
He is survived by his loving wife Wendi of Kemp, his three beautiful children; Laynee, Levi and Lynlee     Grace of Kemp, his parents; Wayne and Nita Tanksley of Kemp, sisters; Nicki Tanksley of Kemp and         Christi Lively and husband Chris of Rockwall, other loving family members, band of brothers with Dallas Fire Department and many more friends.
