Savannah Lee took a risk as a 7th grader in trying out for the bowling team, but now as one of the Lady Yellowjackets top performers, that risk is paying off.
“I didn’t know Starkville had a bowling team and I thought it was interesting so I tried out just to see how good I would be,” Lee said.
Since joining the team, Lee has worked her way into a spot on the varsity team where in 39 games, she is averaging 129 pins a game. Seeing her progress at such a young age makes coach Jim Philamlee excited. Not only is she posting high scores, but when the coach watches her bowl, he sees skills of an athlete much older than Lee.
