Vehicle hits pedestrian in Starkville

Starkville Police Department is investigating an accident that left a pedestrian in critical care on Thursday.

According to a Starkville Police Department press release, a male pedestrian was crossing Highway 12 in front of Vowell’s Fresh Market when a vehicle reportedly struck him. The release said the pedestrian was taken to the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Tupelo for surgery. The victim was in critical care as of Thursday afternoon. SPD did not identify the pedestrian on Thursday.

The SPD release said no charges were pending in the incident as of Thursday afternoon, and investigators did not believe the driver to be at fault.
