Moving up to a new classification brought some fears for the Lady Yellowjackets soccer team.
“We have a good program here and we hope to continue it,” Starkville coach Anna Albritton said. “We got to North Half last season and got taken out. Then we moved up to another level in 6A and we were very afraid that we would just get blanketed, but we didn’t. We had one bad game against Madison, but then we came back and played each district game tough.”
All season long the Lady Jackets fought to prove they belonged. Going into the final game of the regular season, Starkville still had a chance for the postseason. In order to make it happen, the Lady Jackets had to defeat a tough opponent in Northwest Rankin.
Starkville fell short 2-0, but in the end, Albritton could not be prouder of the way her girls competed.
