Carroll's career: SA senior embraces leadership role

Since the 9th grade, Nora Kathryn Carroll has been a starter Lady Volunteers.
Not much has changed since that time, until this year, when the Starkville Academy senior stepped into a new role.
“The leadership role is the biggest change,” Carroll said. “I have never had to be one of the leaders because I was the youngest one. Now it is weird because I am a senior and there are younger ones that look up to me because I have been here since the 9th grade, me and Sallie Kate (Richardson) both. The leadership role is the biggest change.”
Despite what coach Glenn Schmidt refers to as a “wrinkle” in that she has had to jump in and play point guard, Carroll has had no trouble adjusting to all that is requested of her this season.
Carroll is averaging 12.4 points per game and 2.2 assists this season.
“She has really come on strong,” Schmidt said. “She is much more mature as a player. She makes better decisions. She is dedicated. Every year she has had to do something different for us. The biggest thing about her is she is flexible. Her game has grown and she is able to adjust to different things around her.”
