LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Reactivate traffic sensors at Coliseum intersection

January 20, 2014

Dear Editor:

Kudos to Mississippi State University over the Christmas holidays. Changing the stop light on Lee Boulevard to a flashing caution made for very smooth traffic flow through the almost deserted campus.

Some years ago, this was commonplace whenever classes were not in session. I sincerely appreciate the return of thoughtfulness from those responsible. But how about reactivating the sensors built into Coliseum Boulevard to control that light? This would avoid the current Russian roulette system that requires one unlucky to hit a red light to wait … and wait some more … regardless if traffic from any other direction.

Somebody thought the sensors were a good idea and the still are ! But for now, thank you again for the flashing caution. That was a nice, but very brief, escape from the one size fits all “timed” wait game.
