Report: MSU’s Collins offered extension

January 18, 2014

Collins

Pete Roussel of CoachingSearch.com has reported that Mississippi State defensive coordinator Geoff Collins was offered a raise and an extension on Friday.
Mississippi State didn’t confirm the report by press time.
Collins’ name was linked to the opening at Florida State. Former Seminole defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt left the FSU program, which won the national championship this season, to accept the same position at Georgia.
MSU gave up only 349.3 yards and 23 points per game this past season, good for fourth best in the Southeastern Conference in the total defense allowed category. The Bulldogs gave up just one offensive touchdown in the last two games of the regular season.
Rice scored just seven points against the defense in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl.
Collins has also served as defensive coordinator at Florida International, Western Carolina and Albright College.
