On Tuesday, a 12-year-old shot and critically injured two fellow students with a shotgun at a Berrendo Middle School in Roswell, N.M.
The next day, Mississippi State University held an active shooter drill for its Crisis Action Team (CAT), a coalition of staff trained for disaster response that includes administration, police, the MSU Division of Student Affairs, facilities management and more. MSU Chief Communications Officer Sid Salter said the exercise had been planned long before the Roswell shooting.
