TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Mississippi State head coach Rick Ray sensed something wasn’t right with his team during the early morning walk through Wednesday morning.
It seemed to show on the court.
The Bulldogs dropped an 80-61 decision to the Alabama Crimson Tide inside Coleman Coliseum.
“I’m really disappointed in the way we came out and played,” Ray said. “I thought we weren’t very good in our shoot around (Wednesday). I thought we were a little loose, wasn’t tied down and it carried over into the game.”
The Bulldogs (11-5, 1-2) were already shorthanded and lost another player early in the game. True freshman point guard I.J. Ready left early in the game after a collision.
Ray assumes it’s a concussion, but won’t know anything until he talks to the doctors.
“We need him out on the court because he’s a steadying influence on our team,” Ray said. “He’s a guy that can also make a shot and he’s our best passer. Not having him out there was also a problem, but it shouldn’t be a reason why you lose by 20-something points.”
