SMITH COLUMN: State women are improving in each game

January 15, 2014

Smith

The Mississippi State women's basketball team continues to take the steps necessary to get where head coach Vic Schaefer wants it to be.
There are still going to be times that the Bulldogs do things on the court that will drive Schaefer and his staff crazy, but he loves his players and believes in them.
Schaefer saw MSU's competitive spirit in losses to Florida 82-72 on the road and Auburn 82-74 at home. It got the first Southeastern Conference win of the season at Arkansas 54-50 on Sunday.
The Bulldogs have come a long way in one year under Schaefer's leadership and they are not going to be the pushover this year in the SEC that they were most of last season.
After the Auburn loss, Schaefer knew there were areas MSU needed to fix, but was encouraged by the way his players performed.
