Scott Waller has seen the difference economic development can make for Mississippi.

Waller is executive vice president and chief operating officer of the Mississippi Economic Council, and he said he remembered what West Point was like when Bryan Foods closed its plant there. He said he also remembered, on the day Yokohama Tire Company broke ground on its plant, driving by Oak Hill Academy and seeing students waving at everyone connected to the ceremony as they drove by. He also remembered a meeting at Nissan’s plant in Canton where several workers gave testimony about the difference the plant had made for them.
