Mississippi State head coach Rick Ray and his coaching staff took full advantage of school being out for the past month.
They doubled up on practices and had two-a-days.
The practices paid off, especially with the shooting, for the Bulldogs. The biggest jump that was seen was MSU’s free-throw percentage.
In the last four games, the Bulldogs made 64-of-90 (71 percent) free throws.
“As a team, our free throw percentage has jumped 8 percent in these past four games,” Ray said on Monday’s Southeastern Conference teleconference. “What’s helped that is when we’re out of session here at school, we bring our guys back for a second practice and that second practice just consists of shooting shots and a lot of free throws. Those guys are shooting at least 150 free throws a day.”
