Aberdeen defeats New Hope 57-47

December 28, 2013

It is not just about out of state talent this week at the Travis Outlaw Slam Dunk at the Hump Tournament.
Lining up right alongside teams from Arkansas, Tennessee, and Pennsylvania are a handful of Magnolia State teams.
On Friday, a pair of those teams tipped off in a tightly-contested battle which saw the Aberdeen Bulldogs secure a 57-47 victory over the Trojans of New Hope.
“In different types of environments, some games won’t be pretty,” Aberdeen coach Cornelius Gilleylen said. “Some will be ugly. You just have to man up and grind out. In a neutral site game, you have to come out with a little more energy and we came out with a little more energy in the second half. We came out with a defensive strategy that helped us slow them down.”
Aberdeen may have gotten the ultimate victory, but it did not come without a fight.
