COLUMBUS – It's easier for players of any sport to understand why they have to practice certain things when it makes a difference in winning or losing games.
On Friday afternoon at the Joe Horne Christmas Classic in Columbus, the Starkville Lady Yellowjackets saw just how important free throws were.
The Lady Jackets made 38 free throws during the course of the game against Carver, Ala., and ended up winning a 64-59 decision.
"It's one of those things where we shoot free throws every day," SHS girls coach Kristie Williams said. "We tell them that free throws help win games and this is one of those moments where the free throws did help us out. That's where we stayed most of the time was at the free-throw line."
