The Southeastern Conference Player of the Week in women's basketball is being rewarded with a trip near home.
The Mississippi State Bulldogs play 297 miles away from Martha Alwal's hometown today when they take on North Dakota State. Tipoff at Bison Sports Arena is set for 7 p.m.
Alwal is a junior center from Worthington, Minn.
"We're taking Martha home and giving her a chance to get back close to her family," MSU coach Vic Schaefer said. "I know she will be excited about that and our staff is excited about getting her there."
Alwal said a charter bus is planned to get family and friends from Worthington, Minn., to North Dakota.
