Mississippi State head coach Dan Mullen likes playing in a bowl game for number of reasons.
Obviously, it's one more game and a reward for what your team did during the regular season.
It also gives your team extra work in practice.
The Bulldogs will spend the next week preparing for the AutoZone Liberty Bowl and the Rice Owls. The game will be played on New Year's Eve (Dec. 31) at 3 p.m. in Memphis, Tenn.
The first few days of practice will be focused on getting the younger guys reps.
"This is a bonus right now (during) these next couple of days," Mullen said after Saturday morning's practice. "We don't start game prep until Wednesday. There are a lot of guys that haven't gotten a lot of reps (that are) getting their opportunity. I told them (that) they get the opportunity to see where they're at. (They see) where they're at with their assignment, their technique, where they're at running."
