Mississippi State University usually has so many students walking across the stage for its spring graduation that it splits them into two ceremonies. There’s only one ceremony for MSU’s fall graduation, but MSU Registrar John Dickerson said that doesn’t mean there are that many fewer fall graduates.

Dickerson said the fall ceremony also included summer term graduates, with a total pool of 2,356 degree candidates. That may be close to the 2,453 spring graduates for this year, he said, but where 1,858 graduates walked across the stage in the spring, only 1,028 are scheduled to walk for the fall ceremony. Both ceremonies are growing over the years with enrollment, he said, so the fall graduation ceremony could split into two in the future.
