Lady Volunteers take road victory

December 11, 2013

GREENVILLE – The Starkville Academy Academy Lady Volunteers are starting to mimic the way they have played the last couple of seasons.
The Lady Volunteers downed Washington School 46-31 Tuesday night on the road to improve to 9-3 overall and 2-0 in district play.
Sallie Kate Richardson led SA with a double-double of 20 points and 12 rebounds. Nora Kathryn Carroll added 11 points.
The Lady Vols took a 17-16 lead into the second quarter, but that's where the score stood heading into the locker room at halftime. Neither team was able to score in the second period.
SA came out and took control in the third quarter as it outscored Washington School 14-7 to take a 31-23 lead into the final period.
The Lady Vols kept the offense coming and outscored the Lady Generals 15-8 in the fourth quarter.
SA will be back in action Thursday when they travel to Jackson Academy for another district game. Action starts at 4 p.m. with the junior high girls team.
