Mississippi State University announced Monday that alumni Tommy and Terri Nusz have donated $12.3 million for the university to bolster its efforts in engineering, sports, teacher education, veteran resources, equine health and other causes close to the Nusz family’s hearts.

Nusz is president, CEO and board chairman for Oasis Petroleum in Houston, Texas. While he founded the company in 2007, he has worked in the oil and gas industry for 30 years. John Rush, MSU vice president for development and alumni, said while the Nusz family had regularly contributed to MSU for more than a decade, this was the family’s largest gift yet.
