New seasons bring clean slates.
There are no records, no rankings and everyone is on equal footing.
That newness also brings the chance to adjust things that might not have been so successful the previous year. Add in a new coach and the adjustments take on a whole new meaning.
This is the situation taking place as basketball season continues for the East Webster Lady Wolverines.
"I am getting to know them, they are getting to know me and we are getting better each game," first-year East Webster coach Todd Hutchinson said. "It is just one of those things where we are having to figure each other out."
Along with a new coach calling the plays, the Lady Wolverines are adapting to new roles as they look to replace last season's departing seniors.
"We play well at times, but we lost two starting guards so we have some new starters that are having to get accustomed to being in that situation," Hutchinson said. "That doesn't happen overnight."
Changes may be taking place, but the coach adds that his team is "enjoying the ride."
