Police search for suspects in shoplifting, chase

December 3, 2013

Starkville police continue to search for two male suspects that led law enforcement on a high-speed chase across two counties on Friday afternoon.

SPD Capt. Frank Nichols said both Tractor Supply and Lowe's in Starkville reported instances of shoplifting Friday and gave police a vehicle description. Officers located the vehicle containing the two suspects in Starkville, Nichols said. A high-speed pursuit ensued that ended in Clay County, where Nichols said the suspects abandoned the vehicle and eluded officers on foot.

Nichols said officers did seize property from the vehicle.

SPD's investigation division has taken charge of the case, and Nichols said the department would release more details as the investigation progressed.

Clay County Sheriff's Department assisted in Friday's pursuit.
