South Panola has powerful tradition

South Panola is the No. 1 team in the state of Mississippi for a reason.
They are the defending Class 6A State champions and this season the Tigers have only one loss. That loss was not to an ordinary team, but rather was the result of seeking out and playing premier teams from across the nation. This year South Panola chose to face teams from Tennessee and Arkansas, and after knocking off two of the teams, Memphis University School handed the Tigers their first loss since September 2012.
Since then, South Panola has regrouped and found new determination. Outside of a 14-8 victory over Tupelo, the Tigers have not had a margin of victory less than 19 points.
The Tigers welcome new Class 6A opponent and defending Class 5A State champion Starkville to Batesville this Friday for the second round of the playoffs. Despite the Yellowjackets impressive showing thus far in Class 6A, they have yet to face a team like South Panola.
