SMITH COLUMN: Military members have earned right to enjoy a game

There has been a huge emphasis on the military at football games across the state and the country over the last few days.
With Veterans Day taking place last week and November being Military Appreciation Month, there have been plenty of opportunities to thank those who have fought for our country and continue to do so.
Anyone who attended last Saturday's college football game between Mississippi State and Alabama were treated to several shows of appreciation to the military. The Famous Maroon Band always does a fine job with its halftime show and salute to America.
Bulldog coach Dan Mullen took time out on his post-game radio show and weekly television show to acknowledge the contributions of the military, which gives him a chance "to live the dream of being a college football coach."
