The return of Fred Thomas was a much-needed boost for the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
The sophomore guard missed the Bulldogs' season opener last Friday for participating in an all-star game not sanctioned by the NCAA. He was forced to be sidelined for one game per the NCAA.
The Jackson native had a game-high 17 points as the Bulldogs had a big second half in a 78-55 victory over the Kennesaw State Owls Thursday night inside Humphrey Coliseum.
"Obviously, Fred's a talent," MSU head coach Rick Ray said. "He's got to do a better job of finishing at the rim because everybody is going to play him as a shooter, so when those opportunities happen, he's got all this strength and weight added to him now. He's got to do a better job of finishing at the rim for us."
