In Mississippi State's 113th seasons, it has played the No. 1 team in the country five times.
The Bulldogs do it for for a sixth time this season.
State (4-5, 1-4) hosts the top-ranked team in the country on Saturday in the Alabama Crimson Tide (9-0, 6-0).
"(It's) a great opportunity for us this week obviously," MSU head coach Dan Mullen said in his Monday press conference. "Anytime you get the opportunity to play the No. 1 team in the country, that's huge. There are only nine teams in the whole country have had that opportunity so far this year. It's unique and you don't always get this. (It's) fun for our guys, (and) obviously a great challenge."
