Starkville youth football teams go for State

November 9, 2013

Two Starkville youth football teams of the Powerhouse League still have something to achieve.
After the Starkville 9-10 Saints and the Starkville 11-12 Cowboys won their respective Super Bowls last Sunday at East Mississippi Community College in Scooba, the squads get to play one more game for the right to be called the best in the state.
The undefeated Saints (10-0) take on the also unblemished Vicksburg Packers (12-0) at 2 p.m. today, while the Cowboys also play the Vicksburg Packers at 3 p.m. in the State championship games to be held in Macon at Noxubee County High School.
In the Powerhouse League, the Super Bowl is just a stepping stone to something more.
"This is bigger than the Super Bowl for us," Saints coach and president Fred Tate said.
