Aldermen rebuff effort to create review group

November 6, 2013

Starkville Ward 4 Alderman Jason Walker’s plan to create a committee to review a pair of city ordinances fell largely on deaf ears Tuesday evening during the Board of Aldermen’s regular meeting at City Hall.

Walker’s motion to create a seven-person committee to review the city’s sidewalk and landscaping ordinances failed by a 5-2 vote with only Ward 5 Alderman Scott Maynard voting with Walker. Aldermen Ben Carver, Lisa Wynn, David Little, Roy A. Perkins and Henry Vaughn, of Wards 1,2,3,6 and 7 respectively, opposed the measure.
