SMITH COLUMN: EMCC plays entire game to take win

November 2, 2013

Smith

There were many big plays during Saturday's MACJC playoff game between the East Mississippi Community College Lions and the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College Bulldogs.
The biggest play may have been by the GCCC band at halftime.
For some reason, the visiting band felt the need to include the song "We are the Champions" as part of its halftime routine.
It was a curious choice simply because of the fact the Bulldogs had yet to win anything as the No. 2 seed out of the South.
With a 14-7 lead at halftime, Gulf Coast had all of a sudden became a very bold outfit. Several of the Bulldogs were taunting the Lions as they left the field at the break.
That was a very unwise move.
