For the past year and a half, Mississippi State University has worked with four other universities across the nation to study transportation by land, sea, air, rail and everything in-between.
The U.S. Department of Transportation selected MSU as the lead institution for a National Center for Intermodal Transportation for Economic Competitiveness (NCITEC) in January 2012, funding the center with a $3.5 million federal grant. NCITEC’s five universities promote integration of transportation modes for both freight and passengers, pursuing economic competitiveness, efficiency, safety, security and sustainability.
